About Guest Posting

What is guest posting?

Guest posting is the practice of one website owner writing an article or blog post for another website. The host website usually credits the guest author by providing a link back to the author’s website or social media profile.

What are the benefits of guest posting?

Guest posting is beneficial for both parties. It saves time for the host website because they don’t have to spend time or resources producing the content, and it provides publicity and links for the guest author and their brand/business. Guest posting is a tactic often used by search engine optimisers to acquire natural-looking backlinks.

Will it get me into trouble with Google and other search engines?

Guest posting is one of the most effective link building strategies available. Google will get suspicious if all of your site’s backlinks come from just one source, so guest posting is best used as part of a balanced overall SEO strategy. We recommend using a variety of anchor phrases, and including links to more than one website within your guest articles.

How many links can I include in my guest article?

Generally speaking, we allow up to 3 ‘promotional’ backlinks per guest article. This would include links to a company website, an ecommerce store or a blog that makes money from advertising.

You can also add a reasonable number of ‘non-commercial’ links – such as news articles, information sources, Wikipedia pages and so on.

Will my links be dofollow?

Yes. Any links in your article will be permanent and dofollow.

Writing Your Article

What can I write about?

Our websites cover a wide range of topics and subject matter. Whatever you want to write about, we probably have a website that matches your chosen topic.

Your article should be appropriate for a family audience. We cannot publish guest articles that promote or link to adult or illegal content.

How long should my article be?

As a rough guideline, your article should be around 300 – 2,000 words in length.

Can I include images with my article?

Yes. Please make sure you are the copyright owner or you have permission to use the images. Please send your images in the highest resolution available.

If you don’t include any images, we will select a suitable stock photo to be used as the featured image.

Can I include an author bio?

Yes. If you can provide your name and a short paragraph about yourself, they will be included at the end of your article.

Will you make any changes to my article?

We may make a few minor grammatical changes to your article if we see fit. We won’t change anything major without checking with you first.

Submitting Your Guest Article

How do I submit my guest article?

Articles should be sent to us via email. Before submitting your finished article, please contact editor@mountainpublishing.co.uk for further information.

What format should my guest article be in?

Basically, anything we can copy & paste into the backend of our websites. Word documents, plain text files and Google Docs are all acceptable. Please make sure your links are included in the file.

How long will it take for my article to be published?

Once we have received your article we aim to upload it within 2 business days. You will receive email notification and a live link once your article has been published.
